Res's Unlucky to lose on Penalties
| - Latest News | The Reserve Division One League Cup Final took place on thursday, with the HTFC boys unlucky to lose on penalties to a strong Whitefield Norpol outfit. Town started the game well by setting the tempo and passing the ball well throughout the team. Norpol however were a physical team with tricky attackers and aslong as HTFC didn't put the ball in the net there was always a chance that they could take the lead. It was still deadlocked at half-time and town came out and started as they left off before the break. however town were failing to make the possession count in the final third and still left themselves open to conceding and going behind. on the hour mark Whitefield took the lead, a long floated ball was headed home past a helpless maher. Town didn't let the mood drop however and they continued to push forward and after an inspired substitution from managers Chris Church and Tony Sansome, introducing paceman Jim Marks, Harborough equalised when Marks rifled home from close range. It finished 1-1 and when extra time failed to split the teams it had to be decided on penalty kicks. The 5 brave players who stepped up for HTFC were, Jim Marks, Callum Harris, Jay Vye, Dean Bates and Matt Oakley. unfortunately 3 of the kicks were unsuccessful and town lost 3-1. Special mention would like to go out to the massive support that followed HTFC dominating the ground throughout. |
