ROOSTERS WIN THE LEAGUE

- Latest News

Roosters won the league on thursday night with a hard fought draw away at rivals ST Andrews. Roosters were always in control on a pitch made smaller to try and stop the Roosters passing game and wide play. Ben Wheeler opening the scoring with a screamer that flew past the home sides keeper and the dream was alive and kicking. Strong midfield play by Wheeler, Jack Kavanagh and Ewan Ronald allowed the Roosters to boss the first half. Sam Ashton ,Wheeler and Ronald all went close with some long range strikes. Man of the match Matt G was a rock at the back and was very calm under pressure. After the turn around the Roosters took the game to St Andrews and with Sammy Edwards leading the charge there only looked like one winner. Callum Palmer Walsh got stuck striaght in and made some great cruching tackles and the pair of Ciaran Mcmillan Obrien and Matt Sayles gave the roosters attack the fresh legs they needed and both went close in front of goal. An injury time third half (12 added Mintures) saw the home side draw level and with ST Andrews needing all three points to win the league the floodlights were turn on as the final whistle was no where to be heard. A last gasp save from Keeper Josh Walker and some soild defending from Edwards, Ronald , Palmer -walsh and Little Matt Guadagnini saw the game out all all the boys dreams came true when the final whistle blew. The boys and our large support were all over the moon as the Roosters won only the second league title in the history of Harborough minis. Every boy had a smile as large as can B!! and they all felt on top of the world. A small party in Macdonalds on the way home and big one on sunday morning at the ground where the team will get there medals and cup.
